Join Us at Leasing Fest—November 2

Wondering what Shores has to offer besides gorgeous apartments and great amenities? (Yes, there’s even more!) Well, we’re ready to show you at “Leasing Fest.” What is this you ask? It’s a one-day event we’ve put together that showcases neighborhood businesses, food from local restaurants, Shores move-in specials and more.

All of the Shores buildings are now officially open so Leasing Fest is also the perfect time to ask those lingering questions you may have and finally decide which Shores floorplan, view, etc. is the perfect one for you.

The WHEN is November 2 from noon to 5 pm. The WHERE is Shores Leasing Office. And the WHO will be participating is…a long list. But because we really like you, here’s a sneak peek:

Café Del Rey

California Pizza Kitchen

There will also be a neighborhood pet spa, bike shop, doggie bakery, dry cleaners, boat rental company, moving company and more…so don’t miss it!

If you have any questions beforehand, feel free to call our sales office at (310) 822-7700 or email info@shoresmdr.com.

We hope to see you there!

Escape From the Marina del Rey Gym Routine: Shores Talks to Our New Fitness Center Concierge

One of Shores’ most exciting amenities is, without a doubt, the Fitness Center. This isn’t going to be your run-of-the-mill apartment community fitness room with a stack of free weights and a handful of treadmills. No, the Shores Fitness Center is going to rival the best of the big city gyms scattered across Los Angeles! There will be top-of-the-line workout equipment, personal trainers and expert-led classes for boot camp, circuit training, yoga, spinning and the popular “yoga-spinning combo” class. The Shores team is also working on customizing Fitness Center packages for our residents so there will be a variety of options at affordable prices.

Obviously we have a lot going on and because we want the Fitness Center experience to be an amazing one, we have an equally amazing person at the helm of this amenity: Gretchen Ritter, a former NCAA swimmer and the owner/founder of The Results Factory, LLC, Fitness Center Concierge Services. Since 1998, Gretchen has been a leader in fitness—training numerous training teams and hundred of trainers on both coasts for renowned clubs including Town Sports International, Sports Club/LA and Spectrum.

We’re excited to have Gretchen presiding over Shores’ “Fitness Center Concierge” feature and with these services, residents will be able to sign up for classes through iPhone and iPad apps, schedule personal training sessions (including a complimentary session for each resident) and accomplish a whole lot more. To give you some insight into Gretchen’s background and to find out what the Fitness Center has in store for you, we sat down for a little Q&A with Gretchen. And here’s what she had to say…

Shores: What will your role involve as Shores’ Fitness Center Concierge? Will you be teaching some of the classes?

G.R.: I will make sure that every new resident is introduced to the fitness lifestyle promoted by Shores. Every new resident will receive a complimentary guided workout with one of our certified trainers. They’ll also be introduced to our array of fitness classes that include cycling, yoga, boot camp & circuit training. I won’t be teaching any of the classes but I’ll be very responsive to feedback regarding the offerings. Suggestions & feedback are always welcome!

Shores: Will there be personal trainers available? About how many?

G.R.: We will have a couple of trainers that will be regular faces at the Fitness Center but The Results Factory represents over 150 trainers all over Los Angeles. Any specialty, preference or budget can be accommodated.

Shores: You have some creative ideas that will create enthusiasm and encourage residents to become involved. Can you tell us a little about your plans?

G.R.: The goal for the Fitness Center is community engagement. Shores has invested in Technogym’s Kinesis line, the most state-of-the-art equipment sold today anywhere in the world. It’s clear that the people behind Shores value health, wellness and fitness. My job is to encourage that culture within the community. We will be making the Fitness Center a fun, comfortable place. In addition to the complimentary sessions & classes, we’ll also engage the local community in health fairs and post articles and videos on the community fan page. Trainers will make themselves available regularly for tricks and tips sessions. And as always, we’re open to suggestions and feedback from the community.

Shores: In your opinion, what is the coolest or most unique offering as part of the fitness concierge?

G.R.: We listen to what residents want to get out of the fitness amenity and create a program unique to their individual needs. It’s not about providing a room to exercise in; it’s about providing a roadmap that supports a fit and healthy lifestyle.

Shores: In terms of building a sense of community, where do you see fitness fitting into the Shores lifestyle?

G.R.: Fitness is a universal language. Every person on this planet has some “thing” they are hoping to improve in their own bodies. We want to provide a fun, comfortable and non-intimidating environment that supports everyone’s goals. Whether you want to lose weight or improve your sports performance or just stay young, our trainers can create a roadmap that will get you there.

Shores: Can you give us a brief picture of each class?

G.R.: Each class will last 45 min to an hour. Spinning and Boot Camp classes are normally 45 minutes long. Participants can burn between 400 to 600 calories in these classes depending on their fitness levels. Yoga classes can burn up to 300 calories per hour. The class schedule will grow with participation. We’ll start with a daily offering and then grow as the community participation grows.

Shores: Do you know anything about costs or packages associated with the fitness concierge? How many different package options will there be?

G.R.: We will offer introductory training packages at discounted rates. Classes will be offered in packages of 10 or 20 sessions and we’ll also have monthly-unlimited options.

Shores: Can residents try out a class before purchasing a package?

G.R.: Yes! Always a try before you buy whether for a class program or personal training package.

Shores: In your opinion, what is the advantage of going with the Fitness Center compared to one of the other big local gyms?

G.R.: The Fitness Center at Shores is exclusive to the Shores community. The equipment is far superior to any offering locally. It will never feel crowded and we’ll be extremely responsive to the feedback of the residents. Equinox won’t adjust their schedule to meet your needs…we will.

Now that you have the official “skinny” on the Fitness Center Concierge, do you think you’re going to be a regular at the Shores Fitness Center? Let us know which class we’ll most likely find you in the comments below!

Get to Know Shores’ General Manager: Sue Kohan

Shores community is pleased to announce it will be opening its doors soon. The wait is almost over; the lifestyle you have been reading about will soon be a reality. Sue Kohan—our General Manager—and Shores’ team will be assisting you in selecting your new home. Since Sue Kohan will be your go-to person for all-things-Shores, we thought we would get a little insight into her background through a Q and A.

Sue Kohan

How long have you been in Southern California?

I am a native Californian; I was born and raised in San Diego. I started my property management career in my hometown and eventually settled in Los Angeles where I have been working for the past 6 years.

Are you an “ocean person”?

Having lived by the ocean my entire life, I would have to say that I am definitely an ocean person. Additionally, my husband and I love to sail and have a sailboat berthed here in Marina Del Rey. We spend a great deal of our free time out on the water day-sailing on the Santa Monica Bay or taking trips to Catalina Island.

How long have you worked with luxury buildings?

I have been involved in property management for nearly 20 years. During that period of time, I have worked in San Diego, Orange County and Los Angeles. Prior to joining Shores’ team, I worked at a very large and successful lease up in Los Angeles. That experience gave me a great foundation for working with new construction. I have been interested in joining Shores’ new team since they started the new construction in 2011. I am very pleased that I have the opportunity to manage such a beautiful community.

What are you most looking forward to as General Manager of Shores?

I am most looking forward to the day Shores officially opens its doors to all of our new residents.

What is the best leasing advice you could give to interested leasers?

The best advice I can offer is: don’t give yourself too many options, follow your instincts and go with your gut feelings.

In your opinion, what is the coolest amenity at Shores?

My favorite amenities have to be the Sky Terraces and the Fitness Center. Another amazing amenity is the 2-acre park located in the center of the community. I am always in awe every time I step onto the property and look out onto that courtyard.

What are your favorite things to do in the Marina?

That’s easy—my husband and I love to go sailing, biking, or cruising around the Marina on our dinghy.

What is your favorite Marina moment to date?

I have two favorite moments; getting this job and the first time my husband and I took our sailboat on to the Santa Monica Bay.

What do you think Shores residents will love most about the Shores location?

I think they’ll love being so close to the new Farmer’s Market and having access to fresh produce every week. They’ll also be just blocks from the ocean… so they don’t have to worry about having to find a parking spot—that’s a huge bonus.

Sue can’t wait to meet all of the community’s new residents! Make sure to say hello when you arrive at Shores.

Shores Pre-Leasing Is Here!

The Marina has been buzzing about Shores for what seems like forever—and finally, to the excitement of the Shores team and our future residents—Pre-Leasing is about to begin! Starting tomorrow, all Shores fans will need to do is to visit our brand-new Shores website, click on the Floorplans page, and then pick their pad. With just a few clicks and a deposit of $500 (1-bedroom units) or $750 (2-bedroom units), you’ll be able to not only choose your floorplan, but also the view you will have, the floor you will live on, and the exact apartment you want. Arriving early at Shores seriously has its benefits!

We’re still putting the finishing touches on our community, and we know you may be skeptical about  reserving your apartment home without seeing the actual unit just yet. But the people behind Shores aren’t just nameless faces behind a national  real estate moniker.  We’ve been a part of the neighborhood for decades, and we’re genuinely proud of what we know Shores will be.

You can be confident that we’ve been  meticulous in our Shores planning—with truly livable floorplans, community amenities that inspire neighbor-to-neighbor friendships, the best Marina views, an unbelievable courtyard, a great fitness center, and apartment amenities like DirecTV and Internet included in your rent. All of those details will come together to make Shores a really unique place to live. And we’re excited for you all to join us and be a part of it.

If you have any questions about the Shores community or Pre-Leasing, connect with us on Facebook or contact Sue Kohan, Shores General Manager, and Jimmy Garrett, Shores Assistant Manager, at (310) 822-7700. Either way, we’ll be happy to guide you through the process. Happy Leasing, everyone!
