Shores residents really have it made in the holiday department. Not only do we have gorgeous apartments that we can easily bedazzle with glittering trees, garland and mistletoe, but we live in a community that’s close to all of the best holiday happenings in Marina del Rey. Continue reading
December is officially here, and, in most parts of the world, this usually means weather that is positively frightful. Here in Marina del Rey, however, we are fortunate enough to enjoy pleasant Southern California weather year-round, so our holiday cheer tends to revolve around outdoor activities like Santa runs, surfing and boating. The annual Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade, where local boats tour the Main Channel covered in brightly colored Christmas lights, is one such outdoor event that brings the community together every winter. Celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year, the boat parade will take place this Saturday, Dec. 8 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with three-time Olympic Gold Medalist Kerri Walsh acting as this year’s Grand Marshal! If you are considering attending the event, we recommend making reservations in advance or securing viewing spots ahead of time because the parade will officially kick off with a special fireworks show at 5:55 p.m.
As in most years past, the best viewing spots for the parade are at Fisherman’s Village and Burton Chace Park, which are just a few miles away from the future Shores community. You could easily gather up your friends and ride your bikes to Fisherman’s Village and dine at one of the many dockside restaurants, or pack a picnic for Burton Chace Park to get an equally great view.
The Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade is a great holiday tradition. When Shores opens in Spring 2013, you can even choose an apartment with a view of the Main Channel of the Marina, and plan on joining in the fun from your spacious balcony overlooking the Marina next year!
