We don’t mind admitting it: We want Shores to be the kind of place you brag about. That’s why we’ve gone to great pains to choose amenities that will really add value to our residents’ lifestyles. In previous blogs, we’ve described our amenities in some detail, but one in particular is so unique and cool, we felt the need to expand a little more on it. Yes, we’re talking about Shores’ all-inclusive High-Tech Package. Continue reading

Shores Summer Tradition: Beach Eats

Beach Eats

Ten years ago, who would have imagined that food trucks would be the next big thing in SoCal Cuisine—but boy, are they ever. Thousands of Angelenos crowd around food trucks all over the city, gobbling down delicious (and affordable) tacos, chicken & waffles, Korean BBQ, and even vegan chili fries. So it’s no surprise that the annual Beach Eats is definitely the place to be for Marina Del Rey residents. And as soon as Shores opens its doors, our residents will be first in line because Beach Eats is happening every Thursday night, right across the street at Mother’s Beach!

Here are the details: Beach Eats happens all summer long, from 5 PM to 9 PM every single Thursday. You’ll find the yummiest gourmet food trucks in LA idling at 4101 Admiralty Way, waiting to fill you up with a beachin’ variety of nom noms. There’s parking in Lot #10 and they charge .25 cents for every 15  minutes. For more info, call: (310) 305-9545 or visit MarinaDelRey.lacounty.gov.

Here are the food trucks that will be on board this Thursday, April 11:

Don Chow Tacos

This unconventional “Chino Meets Latino” food truck dishes up fusion cuisine that has fans clamoring for Kung Pao Chicken Tacos, Chinese BBQ Pork Burritos and Chimales (meat-stuffed masa wrapped in corn husks). You may have seen them featured on the Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” special.

Me So Hungry Truck

Me So Hungry

Me So Hungry believes in delivering the “Sneak Attack”—aka: serving up bold flavors and sauces, unusual combinations and Foodie Specials aimed to spark your hunger pangs. They’re big on fresh, so expect to see seasonal changes in their menu—but as of now, look for made-to-order dishes like Cali Sliders (angus beef, smoked applewood bacon, sautéed onions, and gorgonzola cheese sauce), The Monster Burger (angus beef, bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, and Asian BBQ sauce), and garlic-parmesan Shoe-String Fries.

Palazzolo Truck

We’re not sure how they fit them all in a truck, but Palazzolo serves up over 600 flavors of Artisan Gelato and Sorbetto. Salted Caramel, Champagne and Peach, and Blood Orange Sorbetto are just a few to tempt your palate. As a bonus, they also made it onto Oprah Winfrey’s O List, touting: “Creamy, delicate, fresh, and heaven on a hot Fourth of July!”

Cheer Burger

This Korean-American food truck has a menu that’s just made for the beach with burgers, hot dogs, fries, and a few surprises. Fans love the Cheer Burger (cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, bacon, egg, and “cheer” sauce), Sweet Potato Fries, and the Yam Pop (a deep-fried wonton filled with sweet potatoes and mozzarella).

Gourmet Genie to Go

Gourmet Genie Truck

“Our food is magic—that’s how we roll.” That’s the Gourmet Genie mantra and judging from the number of devotees across LA, it must be true. The truck dishes out wholesome Mediterranean fare like the Fish Taco (grilled fish of the day, grilled sweet onion, tahini sauce, and pine nuts), Alladin’s Feast (chicken or beef kabobs with hummus, cabbage salad, grilled tomato, couscous, and pita bread), or the vegan Five-Star Eggplant Caviar (roasted eggplant, Italian parsley, green onion, pomegranate molasses, lemon juice, olive oil, and garlic). They also have specials, so be sure to ask!

India Jones Chow Truck

Indian food on the go—does it get any better than that? India Jones has a great selection of authentic Indian yummies, including the lamb, chicken, beef, or shrimp Frankie (Roti roll up with cilantro tamarind chutney and chopped onion with an egg wash), Chicken Tikka Marsala Curry, and the Sweet Chili Nan. Bonus detail for you: India Jones won the 2012 Vendy Award, which is known as the “ultimate recognition of sidewalk talent!”

If you can’t make it to the April 11 Beach Eats, don’t fret. A new slew of gourmet food trucks will be back at Mother’s beach on April 18 between 5 PM and 9 PM. Don’t you wish you lived at Shores already? You could have your Thursday dinner plans set for months! Pre-leasing starts soon, though. Won’t be long now…
