Shores community is pleased to announce it will be opening its doors soon. The wait is almost over; the lifestyle you have been reading about will soon be a reality. Sue Kohan—our General Manager—and Shores’ team will be assisting you in selecting your new home. Since Sue Kohan will be your go-to person for all-things-Shores, we thought we would get a little insight into her background through a Q and A.
How long have you been in Southern California?
I am a native Californian; I was born and raised in San Diego. I started my property management career in my hometown and eventually settled in Los Angeles where I have been working for the past 6 years.
Are you an “ocean person”?
Having lived by the ocean my entire life, I would have to say that I am definitely an ocean person. Additionally, my husband and I love to sail and have a sailboat berthed here in Marina Del Rey. We spend a great deal of our free time out on the water day-sailing on the Santa Monica Bay or taking trips to Catalina Island.
How long have you worked with luxury buildings?
I have been involved in property management for nearly 20 years. During that period of time, I have worked in San Diego, Orange County and Los Angeles. Prior to joining Shores’ team, I worked at a very large and successful lease up in Los Angeles. That experience gave me a great foundation for working with new construction. I have been interested in joining Shores’ new team since they started the new construction in 2011. I am very pleased that I have the opportunity to manage such a beautiful community.
What are you most looking forward to as General Manager of Shores?
I am most looking forward to the day Shores officially opens its doors to all of our new residents.
What is the best leasing advice you could give to interested leasers?
The best advice I can offer is: don’t give yourself too many options, follow your instincts and go with your gut feelings.
In your opinion, what is the coolest amenity at Shores?
My favorite amenities have to be the Sky Terraces and the Fitness Center. Another amazing amenity is the 2-acre park located in the center of the community. I am always in awe every time I step onto the property and look out onto that courtyard.
What are your favorite things to do in the Marina?
That’s easy—my husband and I love to go sailing, biking, or cruising around the Marina on our dinghy.
What is your favorite Marina moment to date?
I have two favorite moments; getting this job and the first time my husband and I took our sailboat on to the Santa Monica Bay.
What do you think Shores residents will love most about the Shores location?
I think they’ll love being so close to the new Farmer’s Market and having access to fresh produce every week. They’ll also be just blocks from the ocean… so they don’t have to worry about having to find a parking spot—that’s a huge bonus.
