The 51st Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade (aka: Holiday Magic) took place this past weekend and oh, what a great time it was! We hope some of our Shores residents made their way to the festivities, but just in case you didn’t, allow us to give you a glimpse into what you missed.
A festive fireworks display kicked off the night, and thousands of viewers filled up Burton Chace Park and Fisherman’s Village to catch the show and land a prime spot for the boat parade. The creativity these parade entrants showed with their boat decorations was truly awesome so taking it all in was nothing less than dazzling. Then of course, a whole different kind of “awesome” hit the scene when Grand Marshal Phil Jackson (and his wife Jeanie Buss) cruised by on a twinkling yacht, complete with Santa hats. Yes, the crowd loved it.
While this was clearly a plain old good time, let’s not forget that it was also a competition. As each boat sailed by, the judges were busily taking note of the lights, artistry, imagination and resourcefulness of the décor, and on Sunday, December 15, they named the official winners. Take a look-see:
