It’s almost game time. In just a few days, the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers will take the field in the Super Bowl XLVII. As one of the most popular events of the year, Super Bowl unites football fans and non-football fans across the nation with the promise of backyard soirées, bar crawls and the greasy goodness of appetizers like potato skins. As a future Shores resident, you have many options for how to spend this, dare we say, American holiday!
1. If you want to go out…
Marina del Rey offers several sports bars and restaurants for catching the game on the big screen. Tony P’s is one local favorite—and it’s only a 20-minute walk or six-minute bike ride away from Shores. Since Tony P’s opened on Super Bowl Sunday in 1997, it’s THE place to be on game day in the Marina. In fact, it’s so popular that seats usually sell out fairly quickly. This year, the marina-front restaurant is offering seats for $20, which includes a commemorative T-shirt, specialty drinks and giveaways. You might as well root for your favorite team this year with Tony and the gang…and start mapping out your route home for next year at Shores.
2. If you want to stay in…
You can always host your own Super Bowl party at Shores! While you may not be able to invite friends and family over to your new Shores home this year—a little forward planning never hurt anyone, right? Entertaining at Shores is easy. You’ll be the ultimate party host, thanks to your sweet new pad with a water view and state-of-the-art kitchen for whipping up your killer queso and spicy hot wings. If your motto is “go big or go home,” Shores will also offer a cool clubhouse with several large TV screens, communal kitchen and plenty of space for your buds to stretch out in. How much fun would it be to decorate with opposing team colors and dress up in referee outfits while watching the game and critiquing those expensive Super Bowl commercials with your friends and neighbors? And if weather permits, the outdoor courtyard—with all of its open space, outdoor eating areas, seating and barbecues—could also serve as the ultimate “backyard” viewing party and neighborhood mixer.
As you can see, Shores makes it easy to celebrate big events like the Super Bowl. You’ll be minutes away from prime restaurants and bars, plus you’ll have the opportunity to host awesome get-togethers without leaving home. Next year, Super Bowl is going to have a whole new meaning for you as a member of “Team Shores.” The only question is…which football team will you be rooting for in Super Bowl XLVIII? Who wants to put their money on the Kansas City Chiefs or the Jacksonville Jaguars?
